About my short:

Sunflowers are Yellow follows Stan Bubbles 8.5 years BEFORE the novel Stan Bubbles, Evil Overlord M.D. takes place, fully set in the totalitarian regime of his father. Stan, at this point, has been worn down thin from the state of affairs of Farysha, and is more or less just running on instinct.
Until a group of refugees come into the ER, and a little girl needs more than his magic to stay alive.

Captain Fíla and his dragon, Blackthorn, have long been training new recruits. Well, those that survived the basic training and managed to make it to the next step where they work with young dragons. They are both irritated at their orders, to assist the new Overlord of Farysha in his endeavors north in a skirmish against Paryda, all in an attempt to gain his favor in this game known simply as politics that hides nefarious plots.
Will he chose to remain loyal to his king, or will a change of heart alter the fates and lives of not only the Captain and his dragon, but that of all Asura?

Captain Fíla and his dragon, Blackthorn, have made their choice to betray King Jean in favor of Prince Stan Bubbles, should the order for execution come.
​
Days after the birth of Stans Daughter, Princess Victoria, the Captain has followed Prince Stan and his retinue to the basecamp on the borders of Boskil, an ally country, as war continues to loom. However, mere minutes after their arrival, five fighter jets swoop in to attempt to kill the Prince. The Rider duo take to the air, defending his Highness from the jets, but gaining an injury bad enough to send them limping home to the Valley of the Dragons and leaving Stan unprotected.

There, in the headquarters of the Dragon Riders, Fíla and Blackthorn will have to face the King, make good on their choice, and suffer the repercussions therein.

Will they survive, or will they succumb to the Kings demands?

What they find sheds new light on the past history of the Riders, Farysha, and the future of Asura as a whole.
